Considering we'd already done this drive once before (except backwards), I didn't get a whole lot of pictures and I'll keep the post brief.
Although we had seen many of the landmarks already, we saw them differently this time and with different company. And we had different goals in mind too. We went through Alabama, Mississippi, and of course Louisiana. We were sure to visit New Orleans and it was great! We rode on a horse drawn carriage that gave us a tour of the town. We had front row seats and it was so fun!
We were dropped off right near Cafe Du Monde, which your Mimi recommended. Apparently it's in all sorts of movies. We were told to try the french pastry called a "beignet." It reminded me of a sopapilla sprinkled with powdered sugar. It was still delicious!
Ohh... wait a minute! Did I mention that before we even got out of Florida we had truck problems? Oh yeah! This made the first 10 hours of the trip MISERABLE! We were stuck going nowhere when we had to go across the country. Yikes!
The first time we had to stop, we were taken to this repair shop:
We're convinced the truck wasn't fixed thie first time beacuse it had gone to an "UTO & RUC REPAIR" shop (rather than an "Auto & Truck Repair" shop). Lol!
At least we found some humor in it.
It was a LONG drive. And like I've said before, it had its bitter and sweet moments making the whole experience, well, bittersweet. We had the truck problems and then at the end Emma got sick. Needless to say, we were all ready to be in NM.
I only remember the good things unless I really ponder on what happened-- then I remember the tough moments.
So, I won't ponder too much and I'll just remember the good stuff!
That's kind of how the atonement works too, right? Life is hard and we sometimes don't always make the right choices. The Savior provided a way for us to be able to repent and be forgiven though. When we've truly repented, those poor choices can be wiped clean from our book of life and even becomes a distant thought in our own memory-- no longer haunting us. It's a beautiful thing!
I love you!
