My little Princess,
You are going to be a big sister. After much prayer and waiting, Daddy and I decided it was time to have another baby. Considering it took 7 months to get pregnant with you, we were surprised to have a positive test result the month immediately after stopping birth control.
I had one pregnancy test stashed under my bathroom sink and took it without telling anyone. Auntie Sunny and I were planning on going out for a run so I stuffed the test in my purse and rushed her out the door. As soon as we stepped outside I told her about the test. It was pretty exciting! And she helped me find a way to tell your daddy.
A few days after finding out we got your Dad to go to Clearwater Beach for a festival they were having. My original intention was to have a caricature done of me and in the picture I would be pregnant-- thus surprising your dad. The caricature artist was a complete bonehead though and I decided that I would not pay him ANYTHING! He was just plain rude. So... I found a stand with leather bracelets that could be engraved. And it all went down from there:
Me: "Honey, I got you a present. It's a bracelet!"
Dad: "Me & You + 2? What-- are you really...?"
Me (squeakily): "YES!"
Dad: "Yay!"
We are thrilled!
And so are you... although I don't think you quite understand what changes are about to happen.
I'll be honest with you... I was hesitant about having another baby. Daddy always wanted a big family and I knew that I probably wanted more kids but our family of 3 became so comfortable. We adore you! We love that we have gotten to know you so well and that there has been no other "baby" to distract us from these first essential years of your life. But once I saw that positive test, I knew we were doing the right thing. You will be such a good big sister. You are a wonderful little girl with a total innate willingness to be good. You are such a beautiful person-- even though you are still small. You are one of my favorite people on the whole planet! And you always will be. You are my first... my baby... my love... my world! You are special and I LOVE YOU!
Love,
Mom
